You have to keep up with the corner at Zweierstrasse/ Weststrasse if you want to know what's going on in Zurich's culinary world. First there were the specialities from Ticino at restaurant Büscion − I never knew how to pronounce that name . 2015 came «Beiz», a restaurant that disapeared as quickly as it appeared. The latest change sees «Dreierlei» which already took my heart. And I hope they remain longer than their precessors.
A few months ago, Niklas Haak and Flavia Flüeler took over the former «Beiz» in Wiedikon and gave the venue a discreet facelift.
The new bar is great for a drink - or two - while waiting for your table. But be warned: As soon as you sit there and watch the world at Weststrasse go by while sipping a cocktail, you might never want to leave that spot again. Unless there is food waiting....
Which there will be at «Dreierlei» and with Ingo Papenberg in the kitchen, it would be a shame, if you missed it. For lunch I orderd a creation calles «eggplant / yoghurt / quinoa» and sealed the healthy meal with a fancy buttermilk-orange panna cotta with amaranth.
The portions are a bit small, but that's part of their concept: Food-Sharing. No, not the small portions but the idea is that you order several dishes and you all share.
As you know from my lunch choice, there are great vegetarian options but of course there is also something for meat eaters or for those who spurn glutes or lactose. At Dreierlei, there is something for every taste.
