Roots of Himalaya

I adore ravioli but i love Momos. The filled Tibetan dumplings just make me happy. And so does the recently opened «Roots of Himalaya» at Körnerstrasse.

If you don't want to take it out, you might get lucky and find a chair at one of the two tables, or just hang out at the bar. Because the team and the chef, Topden, have a few interesting stories to share. My tip: use the waiting time to drink a ginger-shot. 

17 years ago Todsen came to Switzerland, he is Tibetan but he grew up in Indian exile, «where i learned to cook.» After some stops in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi, he finally came to Zurich. «Love!» His better half, Tsering, takes care of the back office and marketing while Todsen tries out new momos-creations, or polishes his latest creations on his food truck. 

Currently, they sell three versions for lunch: with beef, vegetarian with spinach and Gruyère, and vegan with mushroom. Despite the Swiss sounding ingredients, they taste Asian: «My mother taught me all of it.»

Over the summer you'll also find him at various openairs such as Frauenfeld, Gampel or Aarburg.
