I AM A DREAMER

Whilst at The Artisan having dinner with my parents, for the first time in ever really, I was able to connect on multiple levels. To be able to honestly share your thoughts, your feelings and what your understandings of life are. To not be afraid to debate the mind and open the floor for discussion was extremely enlightening. I’ve always admired my father for his ability to find his passion since the age of 17. You see, my father is a rare sea shell collector for those who need a reference. The ones that will explore the seas every weekend, jump on his dive boat and go where no one dares to go without a care about what everyone else is doing, because exactly that, he does what passionates him.

In this regard, I always felt he was a complicated creature to understand, but in reality he is a very simple sea shell. Just a very rare one that requires a very courageous scuba diver willing to dive deep into the depths of the ocean waves to find it. And I am his by-product. This explains our love-hate relationship. We are two peas in a pod yet stubborn as a fucking moscow mule. I carry on his values and teachings whilst simultaneously defining my own as an independent individual and free thinker.

And so I am a dreamer. Day in and day out. Rapidly awakening my soul to the world.

People tend to find their passion at different stages of their lives and I feel like I’ve found mine. My calling is to, very simply, see the world. To immerse in various cultures, to try new experiences and understand the overall architectural landscape of the world, from the Amazonian roots to the high rise floors scraping the skies. But above all, to love, love the world in what beauty it can become instead of that withering flower we always seem to turn it into and then transforming that knowledge into something tangible. Because knowledge is key and tangibility is a solid foundation. The combination is a reflection of your legacy as a human being in this world. Big or small.

It’s sporadic, out of control, not always comprehensible, nor does it always make sense but what it does is that it brings me the biggest natural high and smile you could ever imagine. As I sit in my office in Zug, typing away behind my computer screen over my lunch break, my mind constantly wanders to new locations around the world, dreaming of the people I wish I could share it with, all the while losing myself to the beats of One Republic.

And as I march on, step by step, day by day, goal by goal, I set onward to reaching that vision I wish to see, not just for myself but for the world around me. Sadly, as I’ve heavily mentioned in previous post, these dreams and desires come at a heavy cost of anyone that is holding you back, who don’t understand, or ever bother to simply ask. Of all the memories you shared but need to move on from to build new exciting ones. And as you build these new exciting memories, you embrace the beauty of it all. Yet, at the back of your mind, you always hold on to that hope that one day, just once, you will find that singular person who will want to share that every waking moment with you. The one who will laugh and smile because you are just who you are, a very simple dreamer yet an incomprehensible imperfect mess of a unicorn.
