Zurich is filled with art and wonder. I had a closer look at all the statues and found out- some of them are rather scary than pretty. In time with Halloweeen, i present you with my Scary-Sculpture-Guide.
I don't know hwat it represents, I also don't know, why it looks at me like this or why it's hiding in the bushes at Sonnenberg. Please leave me alone!
Bern has the famous Kindlifresserbrunnen (German for Child Eater Fountain), we have the not so famous Klausbrunnen at the corner of Neustadtgasse-Frankengasse.... what is that sculputure doing with that child?
Rumours say that when this fountain was built in the passway at Bahnhof Wollishofen, the architect immured himself by mistake. If you're thirsty, you may drink his spit...
Talking of spit: A wonderful hommage to Jabba the Hutt, the scariest figure within the entire Star Wars-Universe, stands directly in front of Heilig Kreuz Kirche.
I still have nightmares featuring the twins from Stanley Kubrick's «Shinning». However, it's a known fact thht the twins in Stanley Kubrick's «Shinning» suffer from nighmares featuring this fountain at Sihlporte.
The legend says: If you don't eat your vegetables, the jumper jumps at you late at night at Sihlpark.
A graveyard is not a place, where you like to hang out. But with a sculpture like the one at Friedhof Sihlfeld, it's even less appealing.
The ballad-monger at Hardau reminds of the travelling people who used to have their quarters close by. Seems they were very, very skinny....
I don't know what Hans-Georg Nägeli was famous for and why he deserved a statue at Hohe Promenade. It certainly wasn't for his friendly face. (Correction: he was an important music educationist, publisher and composer and much nicer than the statute presumes).
Is it a ghost? Is it a lost soul? I have no idea what or whom it represents for but it's large and stands in front of the 25hour Hotel at Zurich West.
A French bulldog with wings? Scary! I'm glad it's tethered.
With all the hot weather we’ve been having it’s great to get out on the water and enjoy the lake. Temperatures are often noticeable lower when you leave the shore so it provides some respite from the sweltering heat of the city. But
2. Watch out!
I've told you before but another warning can't hurt. Fraudsters are active on all housing platforms in Switzerland. Also on my pages. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee that all offers are genuine. I do my best to blacklist any i catch but
3. Ice Cream For Grown Ups
I love an ice-cream on a warm summers day but maybe an ice cream with a slightly more adult theme. Why can’t we enjoy a drink with our ice-cream? Listen to some music. Dance while whilst enjoying a cocktail and a sorbet. Well now you can

2. Lucky Dumpling: Authentic Chinese
6 years ago we welcomed 'Dini Mueter' to the Langstrasse. This summer, the bar and restaurant underwent a refurbishment and just reopened its doors with a new concept and a new name. Well, actually the new name is also the concept: Lucky
3. Ooki: All the way from Tokyo
Whenever a new Japanese restaurant opens somewhere, you can be sure that I’m not far behind. This new locale is called Ooki and serves gyoza, ramen, tempura, udon, Japanese curries and sake. The interior is very authentic, the
Hi, We are based in Oberhasli, Zurich, and are looking for somebody to sit a few hours with our cat. We are away between Thursday 14/04 and Monday 19/04, and don't want him to get lonely. If you would like to pay our cat company while reading a book, doing your home office, or would like to stay overnight, we and Ninja would be very happy. Price negotiable, and help on only some days would be sufficient, since we will have somebody come and feed him daily anyways.
We open the Stadtkäserei Basel!
- We produce high-quality and creative cheese in the city
- We only use organic milk from really happy cows from Margarethengut near Basel!
- For all those who follow a vegan diet and therefore avoid animal milk products, vegan house cheese also has a permanent place in our sales counter.
As a first step, we would like to buy the most necessary inventory in order to set up a real cheese dairy with a maturing room in a suitable location in Basel.
In a second step, equipment such as a large cheese kettle, cheese molds, etc. must be purchased. This also includes a maturing container with refrigeration technology and a maturing rack for the cheese.
And in the last step, a renovation is necessary to enable you to enjoy our gastronomic delicacies directly on site (of course processed with our cheese), but also where you can celebrate the taste of our specialties together at events.
If we exceed our funding amount, we will put the money into the opening of another location in Basel. So you have an additional location to experience our cheese with all your senses.
For all extra-motivated supporters of CHF 100 or more, we have also prepared a surprise that you will receive with your rewards!
