Don’t forget, next Sunday is Mothers Day and, if you are in a position to visit your ma or grandma, you’re going not going to be able to turn up empty handed. I’ve come up with a few tips for gifts that will make her feel loved and appreciated.
Chocolate is also a classic gift on Mother's Day, but why not make it an experience? Zurich chocolatier La Flor's chocolate factory is open every Thursday and Friday between 3pm and 6pm. When you visit, you usually get to go behind the scenes for a little tasting - a revelation, and an unforgettable experience for two.
5. For the disorganised.
After a night out on the Langstrasse you completely forgot to get mum/mother in law/grandmother a gift. For the forgetful and desperate there are two vending machines that sell flowers in the city. One at the junction of Badenerstrasse/Kalkbreitestrasse and an other in the HB at the exit for Sihlpost/Europaallee. Both have saved my life on more than one occasion.
Switzerland is full of surprises but if you have travelled to the Ticino by car the «perm-a-jam» at the Gotthard tunnel will not be one. Recently, in an attempt to avoid it i travelled along the Rhône valley which runs between
2. Arosa Electronica: Part II
Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Arosa Electronica. I love events that happen every year and this year’s Arosa Electronica is going to be bigger than ever. And what could go better together than Electronic Dance Music and snow?
3. Don't Worry, There's No Jazz
Switzerland has quite a few festivals but there is only one that can be truly called iconic: The Montreux Jazz Festival . This unique festival has hosted thousands of fantastic artists and even provided the inspiration for the rock

2. Lucky Dumpling: Authentic Chinese
6 years ago we welcomed 'Dini Mueter' to the Langstrasse. This summer, the bar and restaurant underwent a refurbishment and just reopened its doors with a new concept and a new name. Well, actually the new name is also the concept: Lucky
3. Ooki: All the way from Tokyo
Whenever a new Japanese restaurant opens somewhere, you can be sure that I’m not far behind. This new locale is called Ooki and serves gyoza, ramen, tempura, udon, Japanese curries and sake. The interior is very authentic, the
Hi, We are based in Oberhasli, Zurich, and are looking for somebody to sit a few hours with our cat. We are away between Thursday 14/04 and Monday 19/04, and don't want him to get lonely. If you would like to pay our cat company while reading a book, doing your home office, or would like to stay overnight, we and Ninja would be very happy. Price negotiable, email me [email protected], and help on only some days would be sufficient, since we will have somebody come and feed him daily anyways.
We are designer Dasha Podoltseva and architect Elena Orap, founders of Urban Design Project SERIA___ from Kyiv, Ukraine. We devoted it to the typical housing blocks – panelkas – in which most of us, Ukrainians grew up. Panelkas are part of our identity. They are touched by cultural and historical shifts, which we are experiencing and exploring.
Starting February 24th, 2022, with the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, hundreds of such buildings have been destroyed and thousands damaged. Many of them won’t be restored.
That is one more reason why want to share the beauty of our heritage. On the 30th June, we invite you to the opening of the Exhibition “Fragile Architecture” (curated by Tetiana Kartasheva and Marina Donina) where we present a collection of our design items to the audience in Zurich.
We are lucky to have the support of VN Residency, which provides the venue and hosts our special events. The artworks are packed and ready to be shipped from Kyiv. The great team of volunteers works daily to make it happen. However, we lack funding for transportation, promotion, and some materials for the display. Would you join our team by supporting our project?
