Zurich (EN) : Zurich, 22.1.09: Zombies, high tea & bar hopping

Zombie concerts

Wake up the dead: Spotting a zombie can be a difficult and risky task, but now two of them are coming from France at once. Zombie Zombie are analogue and vintage fans (died-in-the-wool?) and they describe their sound as psychedelic and experimental meets Japanese classic. After midnight it's time for the usual Thursday Dosci night at Zukunft, this week with DJs Kay-Zee and Nat.
Thursday 10 pm, Zukunft

Freestyle music

Smash the king?: St. Pauli Bar at Langstrasse 134 is generally perceived as a strip joint but this Friday it features Tony SmashFX vs Dani König. I know that Tony focuses on deeper techno styles and that Dani has been heating up dance floors since the 80’s, but as there is no more information available about this gig you'll just have to go and find out for yourself exactly what’s going on or coming off.
Friday 10 pm, St. Pauli Bar

Photography

Revolutionary projects: Kunsthalle starts 2009 with the parallel exhibitions of photographs by Annette Kelm and Audio, Video, Disco. Not to be confused with the namesake band (Audio.Video.Disco), the exhibition offers an analysis of revolutionary history and includes several film projects.
24 Jan - 16 Apr, Kunsthalle

Bar hopping I

The heart of Zurich: The Facebook group I love Langstrasse celebrates its 1000+ membership with a tour of Langstrasse that starts at Forum at 7 pm and ends at Das Haus. Members get specials at every venue: Alte Metzg, Rossi, Rothaus, Sansibar, Toro, Bling, Acapulco, Mata Hari, R22, Cocuna and Longstreet.
Friday 7 pm, Forum

Bar hopping II

Discover Zurich: Another day, another group of bar hoppers, another part of town. Müllers Lust and their 'disc jockeys' (Victoria Backhand and Nicole Bitchie a.o.) will show you a variety of locations throughout the night. Just be on time at the meeting point and dress to impress!
Saturday 9 pm, Opera

Weeknight affair

Kind of blue: Musikschau is a regular night at Acapulco where you can watch the best music videos of the last 30 years for free. This Monday is dedicated to Miles Davis, who ticks all boxes on the rock star cliché list: talented, eccentric, successful, addicted. The film The Miles Davis Story is shown in English with German subtitles.
Monday 8.30 pm, Acapulco

Fashion Special

PLAY’s Sao Paulo Fashion Week Special: Hello from Sao Paulo. While the rest of the fashion world is reigned by cold, here tropical temperatures dominate in every sense: extravagant fashion shows and champagne like in the good old days. Photo date Gisele Bündchen. On Wednesday Agyness Deyn flew in. And today, Thursday, is the opening of Marc Jacobs’ flagship store. Oh! My! God!, as the Americans would say.

German, English, French with Johann : You just moved in Zurich or have already been living here for so long but still don`t speak good German. Probably, because it`s just a very difficult language. Did you try to learn it with Johann? Well, then your should. It`s easy, flexible and fun. He`s got a lot of experience in teaching privately and in the groups. He can organise lessons at his home or come to your office. By the way, he can show you around Zurich, which is also different and fun. Here is his web site: http://www.johann-gangji.com/
