Hi Gast,
you have:
Concrete idea

Katia Biffi invites you to the opening of her art show, Concrete. The exhibition is on at the Viadukt and goes until the 11th of March. I am very curious to see what she can do… I don’t have details about this event, but I like my art with a bit of mystery.
Thursday 7 pm, Viadukt

Invitation only

On Friday there will be a private party at Kaufleuten Festsaal. Richi, Alex and Patrik are proud to invite you all, but remember to put yourselves on the guestlist. And don’t forget, gentlemen, in order to get in you have to be with a lady (fortunately, I already have a date). Djs Alex Hoefert and Richi S spin.
Friday 11 pm, Kaufleuten Festsaal

Goodbye bash

SANKT organizes one of the last parties in Alte Kaserne before giving the house back to the city. And what a line-up: Martin Landsky, Dan Curtin, Sobuth & Weiss, Juen & Bach and Los Abstractos. Be sure to print the flyer, because you need it to get in.
Saturday 11 pm, Alte Kaserne

Another birthday

This time at the Alte Börse. Tanzkarussel turns one, and the organizers have invited many disco, house and electro djs to celebrate: Claudio Ricci, Rene S, ROlf Imhof and many, many others. Never has getting older sounded so good. I'm betting this will be a late night.
Saturday 11pm, Alte Börse

Melancholic beauty

The Estonian singer and pianist Ingrid Lukas explores the connections between ritual folk, pop and jazz in her haunting and experimental music. Together with Gregor Frei (saxophone, bass clarinet) and Patrik Zosso (drums, metallophone), she plays Exil on Monday night. Bernhard Wagner plays ambient guitar before and between sets.
Monday 9 pm, Exil

Go with the Flo

If you combined equal parts Kate Bush, Tom Waits and Nick Cave and then added a dash of Björk, you’d have the recipe for Florence Welch, British pop sensation. Florence and the Machine, winners of the Best British Album at the 2010 Brit Awards, make a stop in Switzerland for one night only at Rohstofflager.
Wednesday 7 pm, Rohstofflager

Blog: Dr. Whisky

My friend Dr. Whisky is a connoisseur of the water of life, and his tasting notes are second to none. One of his latest malt missions concerned the Balvenie 17 Year Old Madeira Cask:

"This drop is deceptively fresh and youthful for a 17 year old with barley sugar sweetness and pear drop/estery notes. But on the palate is where this whisky truly delivers. Plums, raisins, tobacco, and all sorts of varieties of burnt sugar and butter (toffee, butterscotch, praline...) swell in the mouth long after swallowing. The overall impression is of a whisky that is light, but full flavoured, and destined to be an after-dinner treat or a cigar lover’s new best friend. One of the best in the 17yo series."

Web

Istanbul has been named 2010’s European Capital of Culture, and I happen to be heading there this weekend. Wallpaper* Magazine’s City Short gives you an insider’s glimpse into this metropolis of 12 million people that lies somewhere between old and new, East and West.
