The Perlaton alternative music festival at Stall 6 lifts the lid on the dark and hidden corners of the Swiss music underground and shines a flashing neon light on the artists living there. They'll have 14 bands and 5 djs playing across the three days of the festival, ranging from the Peruvian-Afrobeat of Biel band Los Orioles to the Daydream-Indiepop of Luzern's Alois. The musicians may come from Switzerland, but that is all they have in common, as Perlaton purposely brings together acts that differ as much in genre as they do in performance styles. If you've been liking the burgers at The Bite or the BBQ at Brisket, then the same guys who brought you those American delicacies would like to introduce you to some Southern Fried Chicken at their new joint called Yardbird. The birds are prepared using a, of course, secret recipe, then double-fried in a Buttermilk coating, and served straight-up or with added extras, including a waffle and syrup combo (no one ever said this was a health resort!). The Grand Opening is on Friday, where you can sample some of the dishes, check out their craft beers and cocktails, and generally have a finger-lickin' good time. I'll write my review for you once i've indulged.

The summer may be winding down but hope springs eternal for the last of the sunshine as the Neugassfäscht brings the party out on the streets on Saturday. They'll have two stages full of live music, one for poetry slamming, plus market stalls and a fine array of food trucks to sustain you. Zurich may be a city full of art galleries and museums, but it can occasionally feel a little intimidating to wander these places without a knowledgable guiding hand to lead the way. Luckily, Diana Poole feels your pain and, as part of the Oh-So-Arty community, has organised an informal Art Tour on Saturday afternoon. She'll take you to two contemporary art galleries to learn more about the artworks and artists on display, and then you'll be taken to the studio of Swiss photographer Douglas Mandry to get a unique insight into his creative methods. Saturday 3 pm to 6 pm, various locations

Like short stories, short films can often be overlooked simply because of their length, but I've always thought the skill needed to stuff big stories into small boxes a special kind of magic. In collaboration with the Swedish Embassy, Riffraff are showing an evening of New Swedish Shorts. Six films will be shown in total across the evening's ninety minutes, with each showing a unique vision of the world. Simon Vahlne, director of one of the films, Fight on a Swedish Beach!!, will also be in attendance. All films have English subtitles.

If you're not ready to let go of summer's mellow vibes just yet, you should get yourself down to Mascotte on Tuesday night and be embraced by the warm hug of The Babe Rainbow. They're an Australian band who seem to have dropped a little too much LSD at a surfing hippie commune in the 1960's, and have magically hallucinated themselves directly into the 21st century.
