Sport: King Of Ping

Do you fancy yourself as a King of Ping? Are you a Kong of Pong? Or the King Kong of Ping-Pong? Or are you like me, terrible, but just enjoy knocking a ball about whilst enjoying a beer or ten. If you do, The Ping Pong Lounge has opened its doors (it actually opened on Tuesday,) and offers all a ping-pong enthusiast needs.

Party: Underneath The Arches

Many of you may know the disused railway line that runs from Josefwiese to the Letten. « Im Viadukt», the conglomeration of businesses that reside there are inviting you to join them for an evening of art, culinary delights and music. The event that particularly caught my eye is «Space Pricks,» a game that involves using «pricks,» to climb up the viaduct arch. Okay, i’m sure something got lost in translation here but can’t wait to find out what this is. For the full program click here.

Concert: Cant Get Enough Of That Wonderful Duff

I’ve always thought that Zurich is a bit of a «Paradise City,» and this weekend Dynamo welcome Guns and Roses bass player, Duff McKagan, to the urban jungle. Duff is promoting his new, country tinged record, entitled, «Tenderness.» Don’t want to go home after the show? There’s an afterparty in rock bar, Kater, on Kanonengasse 33 once the show is over.

Party: Kids From The Bronx

There is a new game in town for the LGBTQ+ community as this Friday, the Bronx club opens its doors for the first time. The club promises live DJ’s and shows and, (i really like this,) they are keeping drinks prices low so as to make sure «everyone can afford a night in the Bronx.»

Shopping tip: Shop 'Til You Drop

Some retail therapy for Saturday? The beautiful, Frau Gerolds Garten are having a series of autumn markets which will take place every Saturday through September. If you are a bit of a culture vulture, Kosmos are hosting their very own art market. Both venues, as i’m sure you know, are great for a relax and a drink or two.

Good to know: Two Is Now The Magic Number

If you ever travel by road to Schlieren then you will know that there have been significant road works, diversions and other road related pains in the posterior. This is, of course, due to the installation of tram lines which has necessitated a good deal of construction work. The good news is it’s finished and you can now take a tram 2 direct from the city all the way to Bahnhof Schlieren. Good news for those of you that live out in the Limmattal.

Party: Knabenschiessen

On Monday some of you lucky Ronsters will have a mysterious afternoon off. Yes, it’s Knabenschiessen which is often translated as the, slightly dubious sounding, «Boys Shooting.» In case you didn’t know, the event has taken place yearly since 1899 and was used by the military to get boys interested in target shooting. But what of the girls? Well, they’ve been invited to take part since 1991 and have taken the crown on a fairly regular basis. But Knabenschiessen isn’t really about shooting, you’ll be lucky if you see any. It’s about the funfair and the event that has built up around it. Plenty of street food, funfair rides and other attractions.
