Concert: Jam-boss Rampe

The lockdown has been pretty terrible for musicians and live music lovers alike but all that is going to change this week as the Amboss Rampe Jam Session is re-opening its doors. If you are a musician bring your guitar, voice, spoons or whatever else you play and join the band for a jam. Or just drink a beer and enjoy some spontaneous music.

Thursday 9pm, Amboss Rampe, Zollstrasse 80, 8005

Comedy: Raft of Comedy

Alternatively you may find laughter is the best medicine. On Thursday Kon-Tiki opens its doors for more stand-up comedy fun. Local comedian Ahmed Bilge is on the bill and if you think you can cut it as a stand up, message them to get a spot. Check the facebook though as there are a few rules for the event as well as contact tracing…

Thurs 7:30pm - 9:30pm, Kon-Tiki, Niederdorfstrasse 24, 8001

Good to know: Start New Game?

Are you the type who wants to slip into the virtual world of gaming? With 2020 being what it is who could blame you? But seriously, the SGDA are looking of people to tryout new game concepts and get feedback. Head down to the Kosmos on Friday and (possibly) be the first one to try out the next big thing in gaming.

Shopping tip: Clothes By The Kilo

If you like the vintage look (i’m talking clothes here,) then head down to Labor 5 on Saturday. Veintage Revive are trying to find new homes for all kinds of vintage clothes this Saturday with their Vintage Kilo Sale. This Saturday it will cost 30CHF to buy one kilo of clothes. Oh yeah…the bar is open too if you feel a bit thirsty.

Causes: Top Quality Strikers

The focus of the world is (rightly,) on black lives but that does not mean that other inequalities don’t exist. Switzerland has had a difficult relationship with women’s rights and has lagged behind the world in terms of equality of pay and basic rights (which i wrote about here,) and the 14th of June sees the first anniversary of the largest political protest in Swiss history. Although current circumstances do not lend themselves to large gatherings make your voice heard in any way that you can. The Frauenstreik Kollektiv Zürich facebook page lets you know how you can take part.

Good to know: Plucking Heaven

With the clement weather the whole of Switzerland is overflowing with fruit and why buy from the supermarket when you can pick your own. I’ve counted, it’s a win, win, win, win situation: You get fresh fruit, it’s super cheap, you get a bit of exercise and fresh air and you support local farmers. The following website (it’s in German by the way,) shows the locations where you can find your favourite fruit and has filters so you can find which farmer is growing what. So…the time is ripe, the weather is berry nice. Get plucking...

Exhibition: One Of The Few Plus Points...

One of the positives of the lockdown has been that photographers can capture skies without contrails, and our usually bustling cities devoid of people. Photo Schweiz is currently displaying photos from thirty Swiss photographers who have documented these strange few months. Although i have no desire to relive these times it has given rise to some fantastic photography.
