Shopping tip: Urban Jungle

Plants. The lungs of our planet and a source of fascination, (especially when people talk to them.) If you need some more plants in your life then Bergamotte are running their regular «Pop Up Jungle» in the Amboss Rampe with a wonderful selection of plants on sale. Now, you have to book in advance and at the time of writing there are still time slots available so don’t delay, get shopping.

7th - 10th April, Amboss Rampe, Zollstrasse 80, 8005

Eating: Self Torte

Who doesn’t like chocolate cake? No-one as far as i am concerned and i’ve even made a few in my time. But sometimes you simply don’t have the time or the inclination and that is where «Torta di Wiedikon» comes in. Torta di Wiedikon are making delicious chocolate cakes, made to a traditional Italian recipe and they are selling from the wonderful deli, Welschland which is alwaysworth a visit anyways.

Exhibition: The Red Protozone

With so few events happening i think it is important to take every opportunity that is available so i’m going to be checking out the new exhibition (entitled Continuity/Transpassing,) down at Rote Fabrik over the coming few months. Their description of the exhibit is (typically for artists,) vague and nebulous but any event that involves something called a «Protozone» has got to be worth a visit.

9th April - 9th June, Shedhalle, Rote Fabrik, Seestrasse 395, 8038

Sport: Back To The Velo

If, after the cold, bitter, winter months, your bike has been gathering dust in the cellar it’s high time to get back in the saddle. But don’t forget, the bike needs to be safe and that’s where the Veloflicktag 2021 comes in. They, once you have made an appointment via doodle, will help you to fix any (minor) problems with your bike and get it clean and ready for the summer. But that’s not all. If you have a bike that’s taking up space they will take it off your hands with bike donated to the lovely folks at Velafrica.

Good to know: Sex, Drugs and Rock & Stroll

As the weather warms up, (i know, i know, but it will,) what is nicer than a walk around the city. It’s free, good for your health and you get to explore all those corners of the town that you wouldn’t see on a tram or even on a bike. The good folks at Stadt Zurich know this too as they have come up with 29 walking routes through the city. They have even gone to the trouble of translating a few of them into English for you. Check it out and enjoy a stroll. (when it stops bloody snowing!)

Worth watching: DJ's Getting High

Those of you that are regular visitors to Zurich clubs may well be familiar with DJ and producer duo Adriatique. During the various lockdowns and club closures we have become accustomed to DJ’s streaming sets from closed clubs, venues and even their own homes but Adriatique really have excelled, setting up a DJ booth in the back of a Helicopter and creating a DJ set, hovering over the alps. Great music, great views and a great idea. Check it out here.
