Last month i «interviewed» some of Zurich’s squares but this week there is a new square in town. That’s right, Ronster. Tonight is the inauguration of Ron-Orp-Platz. A square named after me! Scroll down to find out how i am going to be celebrating.

Hey, today is a special day. I almost feel solemn. It almost feels like today is my Birthday and Christmas all rolled into one. Why? Because today the official Zurich Ron-Orp-Platz will be inaugurated. A square named after me, imagine that. You'll understand if I shed a tear of emotion. But above all, I want to celebrate this with you. Come by Ron-Orp-Platz, I'll be there from 5 pm. I've already chilled Prosecco and beer. 2004 was heady year. A pimply youth called Mark founded Facebook, construction began on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and gaming history was made with the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. But standing, like a colossus, over these events was my very first «Ron Orp's Mail», fluttering it’s way into Zurich’s inboxes.

Twenty years later, i'm still here with hopefully twenty years and beyond to come. So of course i want to throw a party to celebrate with you wonderful Ronsters and with 12 locations i’m sure the party will be unforgettable. This week i was contemplating I was contemplating which guild i would belong to and how i would take part in Sechseläuten: a peculiar Zurich tradition that results in men parading around in tights, the sad demise of a snowman and the rest of us getting half a day off. After considering my social and political opinions i realised that the guilds would probably prefer me to be the Böögg. Anyways, this year i have come up with six interesting facts about Sechseläuten that you can use to regale and impress co-workers and friends.
