Party: Luminous One Piece

Get rummaging in the attic and dredge out your luminous one piece ski suit and goggles that look like they were borrowed from the set of Top Gun. Dr. Brauwolf is hosting it’s second annual Retro Après Ski Party, and everything good about après ski will be there. Raclette, music, great beer, and day glow outfits that taste left behind. As an added incentive there is a six pack on offer for the best retro outfit. I just hope Franz Klammer isn’t going, I want that prize...

Friday 5pm, Dr Brauwolf, Räffelstrasse 26, 8045

Party: Hive Mind

There is a real buzz down in Gelroldstrasse…okay I’ve done the bee related jokes before, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hit super-club Hive on Saturday. Once again they’ve got a great line up of DJ’s including Richy Ahmed ( Four Thirty Two, Hot Creations) from the U.K. and Italy’s Armonica ( MoBlack/Riccione) to name but two. Always a great night out.

Concert: Nothing Sour About This Lemon

If electronic music isn't so much your thing, then swing by Mascotte where U.S. band The Lemonheads will be performing. Not content with having hits with Into Your Arms, and their version of the Simon and Garfunkel classic, Mrs Robinson, lead singer Evan Dando was referred to by People magazine as “one of the fifty most beautiful people in the world." Talent, good looks. He and I should get on famously.

Concert: Jeremiah On Fire

I first heard Jonathan Jeremiah in 2012 with material from his first album, A Solitary Man, and was knocked out by his rich baritone and soulful songwriting sensibilities. Jonathan just released his latest album, Good Day, (which I have had on repeat since I first heard it,) and is playing at Kaufleuten on Sunday, and just for you Ronsters i have 2 x 2 tickets to give away.

Cinema: Ba Ba Ba, Ba Barbarella

“Barbarella Psycho-della.” Nothing says swinging sixties quite like the opening titles of Barbarella, which sees Jane Fonda in the title role removing her space suit after a tough space walk, whilst the judicious use of titles obscure her naked body. And now you have the chance to see this cult movie on the big screen as Filmstelle are showing the 1968 classic. Interesting fact 1: Jane Fonda later admitted to drinking vodka to get through the opening scene. Interesting fact 2: The band Duran Duran take their name from the villain of the film.

Tuesday 7:30pm, Filmstelle, Universitätsstrasse 6 / CAB ETH Zentrum, 8092

Reading: I Ron Made 'Em

To be the front man of one of the biggest metal bands in history is some achievement. Add in commercial airline pilot and you are talking about someone extraordinary. Oh yeah, he’s a world class fencer and also brews beer. Bruce Dickinson is a person that the word remarkable can be applied to with no trace of irony and the Iron Maiden frontman will be presenting his autobiography with the rather self-deprecating title of What Does This Button Do, at Volkshaus on Wednesday. I imagine that Bruce is not short of an amusing anecdote or two and ticket holders will receive a signed copy of his book.

Eating: Restaurant Lele: Italian with a difference

When I think of Italians I think of fast talking, passionate and (sometimes) loud, but the restaurant Lele in Millitärstrasse blows these stereotypes apart. Food is served calmly and without drama in a modern environment by a young team.

Good to know: Mac Daddies

I don’t know about you Ronsters but I am a big fan of apple products. Apple pies and cider are my favourites but recently I discovered there is company that make electronic devices called Apple. I also discovered that Apple products are expensive and desirable. But mainly expensive and in the case of phones the batteries have shorter life spans than dragonflies. But help is at hand...
