Too young for Woodstock: Oh, to have visited the legendary festival - with nothing but a smile on my face and a flower in my hair… Instead I'll be at Hallenstadion (probably in the same outfit!) to watch 60s icon Neil Young, who's called "the Godfather of Grunge" nowadays. He's accompanied by his Electric Band. Tickets available from the box office on the night.

Thursday is: officially Zurich’s favourite night to party, or so I'm led to believe. DJs Atomic Nick & Le Frère create a buzz at Hive with their Neon night (electro, powerpop, ghetto tech) and Zukunft hosts Dosci (italdisco, electroboogie) with DJs Nenad J and John Player.

 Swimming: Though the summer seems to be coming to an end, there'll certainly be another day or two of surpisingly hot weather when you're tempted to go for a swim. Lake or river - that's the question? Tiefenbrunnen is one of the most relaxing lidos if you choose the right corner, perhaps not right next to the children's playground... Enge has the advantage that it's at the lake but very central and becomes a chilled out bar - often with music - in the eve. Pier West belongs to the Obere Letten and offers shade during the day, while the other side is crowded with sun worshipers. Further down the Limmat you'll find the Untere Letten with bath huts and plenty of diving points for adrenalin junkies.
