Do you remember Rex Populi? Vaguely? Well, it' received a makeover and is now called Hotel The Yard. And within this hotel you find the restaurant Eat my Balls.
Obscene name? Maybe. But also suitable (and no, not what your dirty mind thinks...) because they serve all kind of meatballs: Hacktätschli, Polpette, Albóndigas, Bolas de Bacalhau, Falafel and what ever name «edible balls» are called around the world. At Bäckerstrasse however, they all have one thing in common. They taste great!
I tried them all and for beginners I recommend the Superballs-Plate with two of each kind. This way, you can munch your way around the world and roll home at the end of the evening... Perfect!
By the way: Their bar is called «Drink my Juice» and serves heavenly cocktails.

The mountains aren’t just for winter and, as the snow melts, a whole new world of opportunities for hiking, cycling and climbing opens up. If this appeals to you but the budget doesn’t stretch to a new rucksack then head down to Dynamo this evening for their Alpin Flohmi which is in collaboration with Mountain Wilderness Schweiz and Public Eye . They’ve got all sorts of mountain sports equipment to buy or sell and, as we all know, re-using is good for the environment.
9 MEADOWS. Created by responsible drinkers and thinkers who care about what's in our glasses and how it affects our tastebuds and our planet.
9 MEADOWS isn’t just an alternative to alcoholic spirits. We don’t taste like gin (or whiskey or vodka) because for that, well … there’s gin.
We are not there only to be consumed by the holder of the shortest straw, tonight’s driver or the calorie counter & we aren’t the second-best option you can take when alcohol simply isn’t one.
We could tell you a story about our owners, our hand distilling process using zero sugar, the provenance of our botanicals sourced from small local Swiss farmers, our commitment to local economies & sustainability, even down to our recycled glass bottles. Who knows, that might interest you but who are we to preach?
But we like to think you care more about what you are drinking - exquisite flavor, how it makes you feel and its effects the night before, the morning after and on the planet we all inhabit.
So, let’s drink to that shall we?
New beginnings, new habits, and a new approach to enjoyment.
Because not all great moments need alcohol.
Hi, We are based in Oberhasli, Zurich, and are looking for somebody to sit a few hours with our cat. We are away between Thursday 14/04 and Monday 19/04, and don't want him to get lonely. If you would like to pay our cat company while reading a book, doing your home office, or would like to stay overnight, we and Ninja would be very happy. Price negotiable, and help on only some days would be sufficient, since we will have somebody come and feed him daily anyways.
