He is a multi-talent, working as an actor, producer, screenwriter and photographer: Styrian Joe Rabl. In mid-September, filming will now begin on his heart's project, his action-thriller drama SOLAR STORM, in which a solar storm hits the earth. We can already be very excited about the names of the A-List actors. It was very work-intensive years until the shooting of SOLAR STORM began, explains Joe Rabl, who has starred in about 20 international Hollywood movies such as 'James Bond Spectre', 'Godzilla' or 'U-571'. After 13 years in Los Angeles, he returned to his native Styria in 2009 for the sake of his mother and worked from here. Joe Rabl is not only someone who can work hard, he also always believed in the success of his script SOLAR STORM. And the themes in it are more topical than ever: financial crises, environmental problems, economic migration and human trafficking, social crises, identity and love. The path from screenplay to production Joe Rabl not only wrote the screenplay, he is also a producer with his company PELICAN PICTURES - and will be involved in the production himself. Filming will take place simultaneously with other major Hollywood productions at the well-known Nu Boyana Film Studios - one of the leading film production and post-production studios in Europe, based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Also involved in SOLAR STORM as co-producer is Jana Karaiwanova, founder and president of the BFC board, the Bulgarian Film Commission. She has over 30 years of experience as a film producer, festival director and award-winning actress. Pre-production - building the film sets, casting, etc. - will start at the end of May/beginning of June. You can also be very excited about the actors - only A-List-Actors - as Joe reveals. They will be announced shortly before shooting begins, which will start in mid-September/early October. By the way, the MAKING-OF SOLAR STORM is called the Carrington event, after the largest scientifically observed magnetic storm on Earth to date in 1859. Life's dream SOLAR STORM "SOLAR STORM is my life's dream," says Joe Rabl, who is always about the story of ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances and/or do extraordinary things. "This is translated into my screenplay from wonderful." In the character-driven action-thriller drama with plenty of action-packed scenes, a solar storm hits Earth, sending a city into chaos and three of its residents on a journey of discovery, pursuit and death. "The idea for 'Solar Storm' came to me in Alaska, where I spent six months working on a trawler in the Bering Sea." It was one of the hardest jobs I ever did, 6 days of 18 hours a day of work." He took that job when he ran out of money during his second year in Los Angeles. "With my last pennies, I bought a newspaper near Hollywood Boulevard and read "Let's go Fishing." I called there and was in Seattle the very next day. My vision of Hollywood was saved," he laughs. On the trawler, in the wild beauty of the ocean and nature, his eyes were also drawn to the firmament and the mystical wonder and spectacle of the Aurora Borealis. "The shapes and colors of the charged solar particles interact with the upper atmosphere to create what the Cree call the "dance of the spirits," Joe recounts with incredible excitement. "It reminded me that despite our technological advances, we are part of nature and its forces, and there are influences on us that are beyond our control. After all, it's not a myth that the full moon has an influence on our lives, and I thought what if the sun had an influence on human behavior, or a human-caused event. All of these are building blocks of the genesis of SOLAR STORM." The action drama is carried by strong characters who are trapped in their different lives, looking for a way out of their problems and given a license to do things they wouldn't normally do. "But they are not just the 'pawns' in a cosmic game of providence. Because I'm particularly interested in their personal ways of dealing with it and what happens to them." Hi, We are based in Oberhasli, Zurich, and are looking for somebody to sit a few hours with our cat. We are away between Thursday 14/04 and Monday 19/04, and don't want him to get lonely. If you would like to pay our cat company while reading a book, doing your home office, or would like to stay overnight, we and Ninja would be very happy. Price negotiable, email me [email protected], and help on only some days would be sufficient, since we will have somebody come and feed him daily anyways.
9 MEADOWS. Created by responsible drinkers and thinkers who care about what's in our glasses and how it affects our tastebuds and our planet.
9 MEADOWS isn’t just an alternative to alcoholic spirits. We don’t taste like gin (or whiskey or vodka) because for that, well … there’s gin.
We are not there only to be consumed by the holder of the shortest straw, tonight’s driver or the calorie counter & we aren’t the second-best option you can take when alcohol simply isn’t one.
We could tell you a story about our owners, our hand distilling process using zero sugar, the provenance of our botanicals sourced from small local Swiss farmers, our commitment to local economies & sustainability, even down to our recycled glass bottles. Who knows, that might interest you but who are we to preach?
But we like to think you care more about what you are drinking - exquisite flavor, how it makes you feel and its effects the night before, the morning after and on the planet we all inhabit.
So, let’s drink to that shall we?
New beginnings, new habits, and a new approach to enjoyment.
Because not all great moments need alcohol.
