I love the Sihl valley. In spite of its close proximity to the city it still feels rugged and remote. Let’s face it, all there is is a river and a railway line. But nothing makes a good walk better than knowing there is cold drink and a hearty lunch at the end of it. Last Sunday i took a (very easy,) walk from Sihlbrugg to the Restaurant Sihlmatt which sits on, what can only be described as, an idyllic meadow on a bend in the river. Click the buttons to find out more.
You can park at the start of the path at Parkplatz Sihlbruggstrasse but it is possible to take the train and a bus to Sihlbrugg Dorf. Once there follow the map to Parkplatz Sihlbruggstrasse and you will find the start of the path to Sihlmatt. The Sihlmatt is well signposted and if you keep the river to your left hand side it is difficult to go wrong.
I took some pictures to give you an idea of the walk. It is really not to strenuous and, as i said, the reward is a delicious meal at the Restaurant Sihlmatt. The restaurant specialises in serving trout and they really do a good job of it whether its served steamed or fried.
So…this weekend will see yet another popular vote with Covid once again providing the issue and plenty of controversy. There are also some pretty important local issues that need to be ironed out which will affect the cities road users.

I've just been refused entry to a cafe in Zurich because their Vaccine app doesn't recognise my UK vaccination certificate.
The owners of the app tell me there are no plans to fix this.
