Visiting Kasheme-founder Nick Mazrekaj three days before the opening of the former Accapulco venue, i never imagined that they'd make it in time. But now, i just want to keep sitting in the large, yellow chair, put on my favourite record and just stay at Kasheme forever.
Half a year after the music bar had to give up their venue at Schöneggstrasse, it returns now to the Langstrasse area. The address changed but the mission stayed the same: «Kasheme should be a place where you get together, listen to some records and socialise». If you like music, just go by, sit down and enjoy the music. Almost like home.
With comfortable seats and cushions, warm lighting, one almost wants to take off the shoes before stepping on the carpet. The record wall next to the dj deck reminds of the old Kasheme, but new is the music-streaming-studio and the mini-club in the basement, as well as a record shop by Monorecords.
Nick loves the sound of jazz, soul, funk and blues, so Kasheme sets the focus on. However they'll try to cover all genres. And: «The crazier, the better.»
«There will always be music. Always, always, always», laughs Nick. If you ever decide to stay at home and not go to Nick's home, he also plans to launch his own web radio: Kasheme Radio.
On first glance, not much is remaining from the former Accapulco. But the former managers, Alfonso Siegrist and Patrik Grau, support the new team. Poetry slams and readings will stay on the diary. However, If you like the karaoke nights, you'll have to head to Plaza from now on.
I'm currently redecorating my apartment and have been looking for unique furniture and pieces to make the «Ron Cave» my own. Fortunately Switzerland has tons of «Brockenhäuser», second hand shops where old furniture and beautiful
