Last week, Mats & Moritz visited me as part of the «future day», to find out what local journalism is all about. Their first job: to visit the best roasted chestnut stall in town. A non-representative survey selected Albisirederplatz. So Mats & Moritz went to see David and asked him a few questions.
David, how do you become a roasted-chesnut-seller? It was a coincidence. Friends of mine run this stall and asked me.
Which skills are essential for this job? You have to like selling things and you should be able to cook.
What do you like about this job? I like the variety of people who come to the stall.
How do you get such a stall? About 30 years ago, someone had the idea to open a stall here and got a permit by the city council.
Aren't you cold? So far no. But i guess i will be once the temperatures drop.
The pots seem very hot. Did you ever burn yourself? Just a little (shows some scars on his arm).
What is your secret for great roasted chestnuts? We use red cabbage, so they don't dry out.
