12 o'clock, 25 degrees and i feel the gelateria calling. Why go for lunch if there is ice cream? The new ice cream parlour Rosso Arancio at Stauffacher is my latest find. Their ice cream is fantastic and there is no queue (yet) making me wait for up to an hour for my favourite flavour.
«We have more than 120 recipes and offer different flavours every day», shares pasticciere Jimmy. He learned from the best in Verona and with every lick you can taste that his gelato cream not only contains fresh and regional ingredients but also a lot of amore. Of course you'll find classics such as stracciatella, zuppa inglese or pistacchio but Jimmy also tries to surprise with exclusive creations such as a mozarella and prosecco combination. The creation of the month: Strawberry with Aceto di Balsamico.
All ice creams are made directly behind the the counter. All fresh, all wonderful.
Personally, i fell in love with another flavour: Sicila — a mix of almonds, amaretto and oranges. Licking my ice cream,while sitting in the sunny gras at Lutherwiese, my lunch break feels like a holiday.
By the way: If you prefer a hearty lunch, Rosso Arancio also offers focaccia with ham and cheese as well as home-made salads.
