Zurich (EN) : Zurich 21.07.2022: Yoga, April & Pixies

Good Morning Ronster

As it’s the holiday season things are rather quiet in the city and because of that i am going to be taking a two week hiatus. So a couple of the events listed are in the following week. But don’t worry, i’ll be back with my next newsletter on the 11th of August.

Also, we are still searching for people to write content for Ron. If you feel like you would like to be part of the team then drop me an e mail here and tell me all about yourself in the style of Ron.

Have a great weekend and see you in a few weeks.

Give my love to the city

Party: Rundfunk Is Back

Hot on the heels of the Hofkino, rundfunk.fm are moving into the Landesmuseum for the annual rundfunk party. The event has become as much a part of summer as ice-cream and children having temper tantrums so don’t be surprised to see me, Ron, clutching a bowl of gin and tonic and shaking it, (whatever «it» is,) on the dance floor.

Also this Friday, US alternative rock legends «The Pixies» are making an appearance at the X-Tra this Friday. Although the Pixies never had a «hit» their influence on music can’t be underrated as Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain cited them as influences. Grab your tickets here and click the button to check out a Pixies playlist.

Festival: A Female Lineup

Recently there was some discussion about a major Swiss festival fielding an all male lineup. Last week i mention the ZOA festival that is taking place at the Dolder and they go to prove that there are plenty of female artists that belong on the big stages. This Friday the are featuring Scottish chanteuse, Amy Macdonald with Emili Sande following the day after on Saturday. The program is completed on Thursday with the show with Katie Melua.

Once again there is some fantastic stand up comedy at er... Comedy Haus next week. On Thursday they are featuring US comedian April Macie as well as a host of other English speaking comedians. April is currently staring in the Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready Comedy Special on Netflix and has already made countless TV and radio appearances. Check her out.

Sport: Yoga With Ron

The outdoors is really the best place to do Yoga. Breathing fresh air and feeling more at one with nature for starters. That’s why you should get along to my very own «Yoga Im Park» event which will be taking place on Saturday 30th July by the pavilion in Platzspitzpark. The yoga sessions will be expertly run by Zenmove and Puerto Mate are offering a delicious ice-tea afterwards. The event is free (but donations are welcome,) so just bring yourself and your yoga mat.

On The Road: Twelve Hours In Bern

On The Road: Twelve Hours In Bern

After a great trip to Luzern to see the Hockney exhibition i decided to get out of town again and visit another of the fantastic galleries that Switzerland has to offer. This time the reason for the list was the exhibition of Swiss artist Ferdinand Hodler. Never heard of him? He was responsible for the «The Woodcutter,» one of Switzerlands most famous art works. But although Bern is a short, (one hour,) train ride i thought i’d spend a few hours in the city and explore my favourite haunts.

Eating: Gazpacho With Fruit? Real Peachy.

The weather the last few weeks has been hot and beautiful so i have been looking for inspiration for my summer meals. And i found it with Lauren Gaskill’s take on the traditional gazpacho. I wanted something that captured the taste of summer while being sweet, spicy and refreshing: et voilà! Click the button to see the full recipe.
