Shopping tip: Bim, Bam, Thank You Ma'am

If you’re still looking for a special gift for that special someone then head over to Halle 622 in Oerlikon for the annual Heiliger Bimbam which is starting today. They’ve got all sorts of stuff on offer and, as the market is for small artists, designers etc it is sure to have something that is unique and exclusive without crippling you financially. Oh yeah, they’ve got some cool music as well with DJ’s spinning during the market.

Stage: Spanish Stand Up

Why not kick off your weekend with some comedy? This week the Comedy Haus over near to Albisriederplatz are hosting Spanish, (but English speaking,) comedian Xavier Castells. Xavier has won awards aplenty, appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and winning the Europe wide Haags Comedy Festival Competition in Holland. Click the link to check him out.

Party: Saturday Afternoon Is The Time

Why do we party in the evening only? It seems like such a waste of a day. Kaufleuten are exploring the concept of having fun during the day with their «Sanapa» which comes from Saturday afternoon party apparently. The party kicks off at two and continues until ten after which you can head home to collapse or move on to another club. Yay!

Concert: Swinging For Santa

Nothing gets me in the Christmas mood better than some great songs and next week, on both Tuesday and Thursday crooner Raphael Jost is going to be hitting the stage at Moods with some classic tunes performed in the jazz style. Raphael is joined by his six piece band for the two hits and they make a pretty delightful and swinging sound. Check them out here.

Parties: T'was The Night Before Clubmass

Parties: T'was The Night Before Clubmass

Many folks that hail from the UK or the US are shocked by some of the Christmas traditions in Switzerland. It is not uncommon to have the traditional Christmas dinner on the 24th and then head out to a bar/club/gig, something that would be unthinkable in many parts of the world. But as they say, when in Rome… So I have come up with a list of bars and clubs that have things happening after the Christmas dinner has been concluded on the 24th or on Christmas day itself.

p.s. Although i am not writing a newsletter for the next two weeks please keep an eye on this link. If anything new pops up i will add it.

Good to know: And On Into 2022

Anyone else looking forward to kissing 2021 goodbye? Last year we thought that 2020 was the pits but then bam, in came 2021. This year a few of the New Year, (or Silvester as it’s known here,) traditions have had to be left behind, (there is no Fireworks for example,) but there are still plenty of places to dance, and have fun in the time after Christmas and up until NYE.

p.s. Same as above. Keep an eye on the linked page and i will let you know if anything interesting or exciting comes up.

Good to know: Who Needs To Stash?

You know the feeling! You’re snuggled up in front of the TV and you realise you don’t have a beer to hand. Or you need a clove of garlic and don’t fancy braving the elements. Well, you could order online with one of the big supermarket chains but that means waiting until tomorrow. This is where stash.ch comes in. They will deliver items to your door in minutes. And what’s more, they keep the prices low. Now i have literally no idea about how they do it but do it they do. Also a pretty useful service if you are stuck at home in quarantine.
