Stage: There Was A Young Man Named Peter Flanagan

It is true, the news at the moment is a bit dreary but laughter is always the best medicine and, thankfully, you can head down to the Comedy Haus to enjoy some stand up comedy in English! The headliner this time out is Peter Flanagan, a comedian who has taken the British comedy scene by storm and has performed all over the world. Hit the button to check him out.

Festival: Sex, Sex, Sex, Sex, Sex!

SEX! Now that i have your attention i would like to talk to you about…sex. But more specifically sex on film because today is the start of the Porny Days festival, a festival that celebrates sexuality, sensuality, passion and lust. They have film events, parties and workshops including my personal favourite, «Pimp Your Privates».

Now here is a friendly tip from your good friend Ron. When you open the website make sure your sound is off. Especially if you are at work. (Actually its probably better if you don’t open it at work at all.)

Open Air: We're Off To See The Wizard

If you prefer your entertainment to be slightly more wholesome and family orientated then head over to the airport. From today The Circle at the airport is hosting the «Zauberpark», (it's organised by the same people who did the Zauberwald in Lenzerheide,) until the 12th of December. The Zauberpark will host live music acts, performances for kids, a light show and, obviously, plenty of food and Glühwein. There, now i’ve said Glühwein i want some. See you there.

Whisky lovers, (and i very much count myself amongst them,) are in for a treat this weekend as The Swiss Whisky Festival opens its doors today. Now i would have called the festival «Swissky» but it’s true name is Whiskyschiff Zurich as it is taking place at Puls 5 which is just a short distance from Schiffbau. (Actually i think it may have been on a ship once.) If you fancy a drop of the good stuff they have around 1000 whiskies to try. Might be worth spreading that out over two nights.

Shopping tip: Get Kitted Out

There could be some snowy weather on the weekend with predictions that the «Schneegrenze» could be as low as 400m. And if your are not kitted out for the new ski season now is the time to do it. So why not pay a visit to the Skibörse at ETH? They have new and second hand equipment for skiing, snowboarding, free riding and just about any other snowy activity you could mention except maybe building snowmen.

Thurs 9am - Sat 6pm, Skibörse, ETH Zentrum StuZ, Universitätsstrasse 6, 8006

If all the excitement at the Porny Days festival have left you feeling a bit flaccid and wilted then maybe a some live music will perk you up. Sweden’s own post punk rockers, Viagra Boys will be playing at Mascotte this Saturday. Check out the Wes Anderson-esque video for their song «Sports».

Good to know: Back To The Polls...Again.

So…this weekend will see yet another popular vote with Covid once again providing the issue and plenty of controversy. There are also some pretty important local issues that need to be ironed out which will affect the cities road users. Which i think is most of us. Anyone here got away with not using roads? Any hoo, here is a brief guide to what the vote on Sunday is all about.
