Good Morning Ronster

Good Morning Ronster

Although Sechseläuten was a subdued affair it did not mean the Böögg avoided its fiery fate. And the news was good. The head exploded after a mere 12 minutes and 57 seconds, giving us good omens for the summer weather. And with the terraces re-opening this is really good news. Have a great weekend and…

Give my love to the city

Good to know: Open For Business...

Relaxing in the sunshine with a cold beer or glass of wine. Sounds appealing right? Well, this week it’s all systems go for the bars that have terraces and believe me, they are as excited about being open as we are about consuming. So…i did a bit of checking around and made a list of some of my favourite terraces that have re-opened this week.

You're Counting Time Because...

Do the days and years seem to be flying by? Are you become more confused by the day? If the answer is yes, (and even if it isn’t) you’re getting old. But as it’s something we need to accept, why not celebrate it?

The website «You’re Getting Old,» shows, once you’ve input your date of birth, all the major events that have happened during your lifetime as well as some (pretty shocking,) stats (as shown in the picture.) Still really cool though and i found myself putting all my friends birthdates in as well.

Courses: Photogenic Animals

If you are a keen photographer and love animals then this will be for you. Wiemann Mediendesign are organising a photography course that will take in the Zurich wonderful zoo. Now, it is pretty pricey but you do get seven and a half hours to wander around the zoo, capturing the animals. Hit the link for ticket info.

Sport: Keep On Running

If you head out into Zurich you can’t help but notice the sheer numbers of people pounding the streets to keep fit. And i know some of the slim and svelte people gliding past me are Ronsters so this may be for you. The Zurich marathon in its usual guise has been cancelled but they are holding a «virtual marathon» with a full marathon but also a half marathon and a 10k course. If you are feeling fit enough then get involved.

Exhibition: Un Muted

The pandemic has taken a pretty hefty toll on musicians with concerts being cancelled or postponed until as far away as 2023. For Zurich based pop & soul singer Rislane it has meant the cancellation of her record launch show not once but twice. Rislane is going to be expressing her feelings of this extraordinary year in a performance piece entitled «Muted» that will be taking place in the Photobastei. Because of the current regulations you need to book a slot in advance.

Good to know: Ahhhh...Ahhhh...Chooooo!

If you are one of the poor souls that suffers from hay fever, (and i count myself as one of them,) then you’ll be joining me in a slight feeling of dread regarding the next few months. But never fear, Stadt Zürich have come up with a map that shows the location of all the sneeze inducing trees. Allergic to birch? Then avoid Kreis 6, Oerlikon and Schwamendingen. My tip. Stay on the Langstrasse. No trees there.
