A selection of take-away spots around the city, with an emphasis on the smaller and lesser-known ones. As my list includes a dozen places you'll get the first half this week and the rest next.
Pizzeria Dammweg Indische: This picturesque stall next to the viaduct sells Indian curry, Indian Pizza and Lassi. All ingredients are fresh and the service super friendly.
Unifalafel: As the name suggests, it's right next to the university and makes the best
falafel in town: crispy on the outside, soft and tasty inside, served with salad and sesame-chili sauce in pita bread. Dim Sum: This take-away doesn't have a proper name but it’s right at Walchebrücke (next to the main station at the entry to Platzspitz). A variety of fabulous Dim Sum is available - all prepared of course after an old family recipe (winter break until 25.02.09). Holly-Food: What a beautiful name! They don’t have a speciality, but they have plenty of offerings and everything tastes good (my favourite is the hamburger). It’s between Escher-Wyss Platz and Hardbrücke train station.
Hotel Rothaus Imbiss: This is the deluxe version of a snack bar and one of the best venues of its kind that Zurich has to offer. The quality is great, the prices low and the menu rich and original.
