Over the next few weeks, I'll introduce you to the most beautiful spots for swimming outside of Zurich. Why? Because you all know the Limmat and the lake, because the local spots are always crowded and because travelling broadens your horizons. So for a change I’m pointing towards the countryside. Katzensee
: I recommend going by bike through Neu-Oerlikon (national bike route 5
) avoiding Wehntalerstrasse altogether. Within half an hour you'll reach your destination and the landscape is dazzling. At the kiosk you can get a pot of margarita (1 litre) for 20 francs (!!) and the sunset is as exquisite as it is at the beach…honestly. Türlersee
: Still close to Zurich, this pretty lake is destined for picnics, families and kids. It lies slightly hidden in the middle of a nature conservation area and (here’s the best part) its water warms sooner than the water in our big lake. Greifensee
: The second largest lake in the canton is just 10 km away from the city. It's the ideal spot for all of you who prefer to be active with a surrounding cycle path on which you can walk, run, skate or bike.
