Discounted Designs

LFW is over for another six months, but from today the London Fashion Weekend takes over the BFC showspace at Somerset House. Current and past seasons’ collections, samples and one-off designs will be on sale with up to a 70% discount, from designers such as Current Elliot, Celine, Alex Monroe, Olivia Rubin, Philip Treacy, Sass & Bide and Twenty8Twelve. Tickets from £13, until Sunday.
5-10pm, Somerset House, Temple, WC2R

Into Good Habits

Start the weekend early with some chilled tunes from hip hop group Lazy Habits, fresh from storming the summer festivals and supporting Mos Def on his recent UK tour. The eight-strong hip hop collective will be playing their latest single 'Memory Banks' featuring soulful singer Baby Sol, as well as their trademark MCs. £9

8.30pm, Vortex Jazz Club, London N16

Pretty Graphic

Graphic designer Saul Bass was a veritable legend of the film industry, and if you've seen Psycho, West Side Story, The Shining, or any number of Hollywood classics, you'll be familiar with his work. In collaboration with the British Film Industry, the Shoreditch's Kemistry Gallery is holding an exhibition of his striking movie poster designs. Film buffs and art fiends, you know what to do. Free

10am-6pm, Kemistry Gallery, London EC2A

Cloud Nothings

Cloud Nothings is Dylan Baldi, a 19-year-old from Cleveland. After a series of EPs, the songwriter moved his workplace from the parental home to a studio in Baltimore. The talented musician is performing his modern interpretation of power-pop at the Camp tonight. Catch him before he is famous! £6

7.30pm, Camp London, City Road, EC1Y

London Underground Photography

South Londoner Yusuf Ozkizil's passion for photography started four years ago when he visited family in Turkey. They spoke no English, he next to no Turkish, which is why he spent most of his time there taking pictures. His habit of walking around with his camera hasn't stopped since and he's taken some quite amazing photos of London. My favourite are the Tube photos. Yusuf's Flickr stream / interview with Yusuf

Face Hunting In New York City

Yvan Rodic is a well-known blogger. When he started his streetstyle blog Facehunter five years ago, the Swiss-born and London-based Rodic was a nobody in the fashion world. These days, Facehunter is a regular fixture at fashion weeks but Rodic also 'hunts' in less expected places such as Kiev, São Paulo, and Reykjavik. Nowness accompanied him for a day in NYC and made a short documentary about him and his search for faces. Watch

Grub With Us

Thanks to the website grubwith.us, locals from NYC, Chicago and San Francisco can meet new people while having dinner with strangers. The users themselves book a certain amount of spaces at a restaurant and then publish the info on the website. The other uses can join in and have dinner with the other strangers. Great idea. Hopefully they expand to London soon!

I hope you do not have an allergy against cats. If you don't, but rather pursue a love to the pets, I would suggest you going to the Lady Dina's Cat Emporium. It is a unique café  that requires a booking which gives you the chance of chilling next to the well treated animals for an hour and a half. The entrance fee goes towards the welfare of the kittys and the prices for products are rather low. Just please, don't feed the entertainment.

Being honest, I am exhausted already. My week was not as excellent as expected and now? At least I'd appreciate a qualitative drink. I may talk a lot about bars, however, the variety is just too big. Hence, another place is introduced to you. Artisan cocktails + calorie rich snacks + incredible vibe= The Alchemist

You need to know where to go when you either want to listen to a good tune or want to enjoy an entertaining evening when you are broke. Or maybe just get a most delicious food. Even for those who live in smaller apartments, do not have access to a living room (as most Londoners I would presume), this may be a fine place to visit. The atmosphere is very calming down and you feel like sitting in a living room even though you don't know anyone. Hence, you can even take a book and just make yourself comfortable on the sofa. Tonight, you can listen to Wicked. For free! (7.30-10.30pm, artists including Anthony Moon

Since I am in urgent need of holidays, this event may be a good start into the day as well as into the former holidays. It is reminder of how the over enthusiastic skiing goers are (even though, I am one myself). Going to this event requires you to put only a good mood onto your face, but also the Austrian Lederhosen on your legs and goggles into your hair/on your eyes. Morning Glory is just the perfect vocab to be used as it may remind you of the one or the other Austrian, Swiss or Bavarian church with a cow next to it standing on a hill. Of course you are just looking down after having shot the Jägermeister (or espresso).

I never watch movies twice. Never. But I might have just changed my mind. On one of the websites I was browsing on today, I saw something that reminded me of Cool Runnings. To me this had always been an inspiring, fantastic and super emotional movie. I think it is time to get on it again. "I am feeling very Olympic today"!
