Discounted Designs

LFW is over for another six months, but from today the London Fashion Weekend takes over the BFC showspace at Somerset House. Current and past seasons’ collections, samples and one-off designs will be on sale with up to a 70% discount, from designers such as Current Elliot, Celine, Alex Monroe, Olivia Rubin, Philip Treacy, Sass & Bide and Twenty8Twelve. Tickets from £13, until Sunday.
5-10pm, Somerset House, Temple, WC2R

Into Good Habits

Start the weekend early with some chilled tunes from hip hop group Lazy Habits, fresh from storming the summer festivals and supporting Mos Def on his recent UK tour. The eight-strong hip hop collective will be playing their latest single 'Memory Banks' featuring soulful singer Baby Sol, as well as their trademark MCs. £9

8.30pm, Vortex Jazz Club, London N16

Pretty Graphic

Graphic designer Saul Bass was a veritable legend of the film industry, and if you've seen Psycho, West Side Story, The Shining, or any number of Hollywood classics, you'll be familiar with his work. In collaboration with the British Film Industry, the Shoreditch's Kemistry Gallery is holding an exhibition of his striking movie poster designs. Film buffs and art fiends, you know what to do. Free

10am-6pm, Kemistry Gallery, London EC2A

Cloud Nothings

Cloud Nothings is Dylan Baldi, a 19-year-old from Cleveland. After a series of EPs, the songwriter moved his workplace from the parental home to a studio in Baltimore. The talented musician is performing his modern interpretation of power-pop at the Camp tonight. Catch him before he is famous! £6

7.30pm, Camp London, City Road, EC1Y

South Londoner Yusuf Ozkizil's passion for photography started four years ago when he visited family in Turkey. They spoke no English, he next to no Turkish, which is why he spent most of his time there taking pictures. His habit of walking around with his camera hasn't stopped since and he's taken some quite amazing photos of London. My favourite are the Tube photos. Yusuf's Flickr stream / interview with Yusuf

Face Hunting In New York City

Yvan Rodic is a well-known blogger. When he started his streetstyle blog Facehunter five years ago, the Swiss-born and London-based Rodic was a nobody in the fashion world. These days, Facehunter is a regular fixture at fashion weeks but Rodic also 'hunts' in less expected places such as Kiev, São Paulo, and Reykjavik. Nowness accompanied him for a day in NYC and made a short documentary about him and his search for faces. Watch

Grub With Us

Thanks to the website, locals from NYC, Chicago and San Francisco can meet new people while having dinner with strangers. The users themselves book a certain amount of spaces at a restaurant and then publish the info on the website. The other uses can join in and have dinner with the other strangers. Great idea. Hopefully they expand to London soon!

In a world where poetry has been prohibited, admirers of ribald rhymes and soul-stirring stanzas must huddle together in illicit POETRY DENS, like Madam Scarlet’s Speakeasy. Watch poets perform, then choose which one you'd like for a private performance... From sailors to tarot readers, disgraced politicians to drama queens, there is a cast of characters one could love to hear weaving worlds with words. The secret location as well as a password is revealed upon the ticket booking.
£6. Fri, 7:30PM, Secret Location, Vauxhall!
Even though this is on short notice now, you still have the possibility of becoming audience member of a talk by start up gurus, investors and hypes from Bloomberg LP and SVC2UK. If you are interested in start ups or features of start up products such as the Google Glasses, this place may be interested for you. Convince yourself and don't miss the one time chance.
Free. Friday: 10am-2pm BL-NK 37 East Road N1 6AH
Add to favourit  Vernissage: Attention to Fashionistas
Recently I have already avised you about having a visit to the Shoreditch Town Hall. In this case I am repeating myself and giving all Fashion interested ones a little hint: The Asian Textile Fair. Most important and prestegious manufacturers from China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Korea are representing products and fabrics exclusively to the London community. Even though this recommendation is an early call for your attention, I am telling you about it to save your ticket so that you avoid missing out.
Free. 9am-6pm, 29/30.10. 380 Old Street EC1V 9LT

Add to favourit  Drinking: Fancy
Fancy. Do you fancy a fancy drink? This is the only word that came up to my mind when I entered Loungelover. Most deluxe alcoholic solutions (at a reasonable price) can be found behind the high doors. Until 1am you can stop by for either the first or the last drink. Anyways, no matter what time it is, you will experience the feeling of being prestigious. At some points in life you need this. Friendliness by waiters is guaranteed.

This is now almost crossing our boundaries, but you can still find an E in the postcode. The Bump Cave has fairly recently (July) opened its doors welcoming us for (selfmade) booze and crazy flair and a right 60's psychedelic track with a good amount of light infusions. If you like it a little more extraordinary, this may be the right spot for you to see in the evening.
